CREATIVITY

On the occasion of the 4th Neuköllner Kreativkongress there will be a podium discussion in English about the (mis)use of the word „CREATIVE/KREATIV“,

given by Jason Merrill Benedict, co-founder of WerkStadt Berlin; Christophe Knoch, speaker of the Koalition der Freien Szene (Coalition of the Independent Art Scene) in Berlin and Matthias Mayer, art space coordinator of the Network of Berlin Independent Project Spaces and Initiatives

„CREATIVE/KREATIV“ is a business term that has been weaponized in the effort to market the volunteer efforts of the FREIE SZENE to software developers, international advertising companies, and fashion labels, making it increasingly so that ARTISTS cannot find studio space inside of the Ring; and PROJECT SPACES are caught in a gentrification trap that threatens their future viability in Berlin as a whole.“

When?: Saturday, 14th of April, 12:30 -01:30 pm
Where?: Quartiershalle auf dem Campus Rütli
              Rütlistraße 35, 36
              12045 Berlin
              approach via Pflügerstraße

Veranstaltungsraum

Since the WerkStadt was founded in an abandoned pharmacy in the summer of 2008 we have had events of all kind including concerts, theater, poetry slams, silent disco, lectures, meetings, and of course wild parties.

During the Covid-19 lockdowns we were busy renovating that abandoned pharmacy for the umpteenth time... this time with a small stage. We are always looking for new event formats so please contact us if you are looking for somewhere to experiment and find an audience.
